Can You Afford Not To Meditate?
There’s a mental health emergency right now.
The Coronavirus Pandemic had a huge impact on the world’s mental health.
It’s caused exceptionally challenging and worrying times for each and every one of us.
As mind.org.uk mention in their report : “The Mental Health Emergency”
“The effects of social distancing, lockdown and the over-consumption of stress-inducing media reports has taken a huge toll on our mental health and wellbeing; and will continue to have lasting effects eventhough the lockdown is over.
The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has left a deep and lasting scar on the mental health of millions around the world. The devastating loss of life, the impact of lockdown and loneliness, and the inevitable worries about recession affected all of us.
Prioritising mental health has never been more critical than it is now.”
What About The Effects Of All That Extra Stress On Your Body?
The Heartmath Infographic below shows you the alarming affects stress can have on your body :
Could Meditation Be The Solution?
Right now, it seems everyone is talking about meditation to deal with stress and anxiety.
And it might be something you’ve been meaning to have a quiet go at.
There seems to be such an abundance of research and “neuroscience” behind the meditation field.
You can find articles just about everywhere shouting about it’s benefits.
Maybe you’ve even dabbled with free mindfulness apps or a drop-in studio.
Or you’ve read in your daily online news about the latest celebrity that meditates.
The evidence does stack up – meditation can make your life better!
Why You Need Meditation?
“When you can completely relax your body and remain conscious, this is the realm where the unknown and the mystical happens.”

What Are The Benefits Of Meditation To Your Health?
Right now, meditation is undergoing the same transformation that exercise did in the ’70s.
And meditation is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your body.
Your body loves and supports you every day, so why not give it something good in return?
Regular Meditation :
- eliminates stress from your brain and body.
- helps you to sleep better.
- sharpens your focus.
- gives you peace of mind.
- improves your decision making skills.
- strengthens your immune system.
- encourages more patience and sensitivity when it comes to being present with your partner.
- improves relationships.
- increases your productivity.
- helps you to be at ease in your body.
- increases oxytocin – as meditation and being kind to yourself triggers endorphins, which reduce stress and open up the flow of tissues for a healthy body.
- When the going gets tough – and you’re busy – don’t forget, you need to meditate more, not less!
- It’s been said that “one good meditation is worth a year’s living”.
What’s not to love about it?
So Why Don’t We Do It?
We now know for sure it’s so good for us and has a ton of benefits!
You can see from the above list that the “ROI” (Return On Investment) spent meditating is too great to ignore any longer.
So why do so many of think we’re too busy to meditate?
Or choose to not have a meditation practice?
Maybe Not Knowing Where To Start Is Holding You Back?
The main thing is to just keep it simple – don’t over-complicate things!
Meditation is merely a way of you getting in touch with your own inner guidance.
It’s important to find the method of meditation that works best for you.
And don’t be surprised if you feel the need to experiment with different methods over the years, until you find just the right one for you.

Before You Start Any Kind Of Meditation – It’s Good To Get Into The Right Vibe First
Sonia Choquette
I was lucky enough to be at the “I Can Do It” Seminar in Birmingham, UK a while ago.
And globally celebrated and dynamic spiritual teacher, Sonia Choquette lead our meditation.
Sonia asked us all to stand up and she turned the upbeat music on full volume from the stage.
She encouraged us all to jig around and sing and dance.
I must admit, it did feel a bit weird and embarrassing doing that amongst a bunch of strangers at the seminar I’d only just briefly met!
But, what she suggested made perfect sense.
As Sonia went on to explain, it’s a way of changing our brain patterns, so we’re in the right vibe to meditate.

(William is one of the UK’s leading educators, activists and authors in the field of holistic wellbeing, meditation and spiritual practice)

William also encouraged our group to move our bodies before meditating by :
- circling our ankles and knees.
- making a figure of 8 with our hips, upper body & our heads!
The idea, again, is to release any stress, tension and get negative feelings out before sitting down to meditate.
There Are So Many Different Ways To Meditate, You’re Spoilt For Choice!

Gabby Bernstein – Peace In Your Pulse
In Gabby’s book “Miracles Now” she says “Don’t think you have to be a meditation master right away to reap the rewards – it’s called a meditation “practice” for a reason.
Just like you wouldn’t expect to play tennis like Serena Williams the first time you pick up a racquet.
Of course not! – but that doesn’t mean you can’t hit the court with focus and enthusiasm, get a great workout, and improve your skills and get some immediate results.
Gabby suggests you begin meditation and access peace through your pulse.
Just by meditating on your own pulse, you can calm your mind, balance your brain hemispheres, and recalibrate your nervous system.
This Kundalini meditation is called “Learning To Meditate” – it’s the perfect place to start and you’ll be zenned out in no time 🙂
Through this simple meditation you can develop your ability to concentrate.
It will also help you control your reactions in all situations and bring calm to even the most scattered mind.
Learning To Meditate
Sit in “Easy Pose” (comfortably cross-legged on the floor) with a slight neck lock, which means your chin is slightly down and your neck is straight.
Lightly close your eyes and focus on the space between your eyebrows (the third-eye point).
The mantra is “Sat Nam” (which means “truth identified”).
The hand position (mudra) is simple. Place the four fingers of your right hand on your left wrist and feel your pulse. The fingers are in a straight line, lightly pressed on the wrist so you can feel your pulse in each fingertip. On each beat of your pulse, mentally hear the sound of “Sat Nam”.
This meditation is suggested for 11 minutes, but you can experience great benefits in just one minute.
Practice this meditation daily to develop your intuition and calm your mind.
“Peace is in your pulse”
